As a Patient Services Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the ward or department team to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Working closely with the wider team, you will help ensure the ward or department environment is well maintained and conducive to high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
As a Patient Services Assistant, you will support the ward or department team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role includes carrying out daily cleaning duties in designated areas in accordance with cleaning schedules and agreed standards, ensuring a high level of cleanliness is maintained at all times. You will provide a friendly and professional meal and beverage service, ensuring patients receive meals that meet their dietary, cultural, religious, and personal requirements. You will be responsible for checking that correct meal orders, including special diets, are received and distributed appropriately, assisting with the preparation and presentation of meals, serving patients, and clearing trays following mealtimes.
Working closely with ward staff, housekeepers, hostesses, the Catering Department, and the Nurse in Charge, you will help ensure all patients’ nutritional needs are met and that a seamless catering service is delivered at ward level. You will report any concerns or issues promptly, adhere to food hygiene regulations and departmental codes of practice, and participate in mandatory training and team meetings as required. Through your contribution, you will help promote a positive patient experience and support the delivery of high-quality care.
