As a Hospital Volunteer you will be providing a friendly and helpful welcome to patients, families and visitors to Bolton Hospital. Volunteers are needed to provide a valuable resource, which enhances patient care by giving practical help and support to patients and staff, but does not replace the work of staff The only qualification required is your desire to help someone in need and have a professional friendly attitude.

All prospective volunteer must complete their eLearning journey before you start volunteering by undertaking the National Volunteer Certificate which underpins the Induction you will do as a volunteer.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for volunteers to support our staff and patients on our wards by helping  to make and serve drinks. Lay tables, set up trolleys, serve meals, assist with hand washing before meals. Help to make up empty beds. Engage with patient by talking with them or helping with an activity, such as reading or playing games.

You will be required to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the desire to volunteer in a patient focussed environment.  You will also need to have good organisational skills, with the ability to deal sensitively and confidently with people face to face.
