An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a part of an innovative Urology Team, within The Stokes Centre of Urology at Guildford.
Due to retirement, a vacancy has opened for a Urology Specialist Nurse. This role will have a variety of responsibilities, including being a vital role in the care of penile cancer and andrological conditions, as well as Urodynamic assessments and Trial without catheter/complex catheter changes
We are seeking an exceptional, highly motivated individual Clinical Nurse Specialist who will act as the primary point of contact for these patients, through their care pathway, from initial diagnosis and surgery, to long term rehabilitation and psychosexual support

Main duties of the job
Independently manage a number of Urological conditions, both cancerous and benign.
To independently and autonomously assess, plan and implement the specialised care of a varied workload of urology patients within an individual caseload and managerially be responsible for maintaining their associated records
Facilitate the delivery of clinical excellence by undertaking research and leading clinical audit in specialist area

Clinical
Demonstrate specialist clinical excellence in urology using patient assessment and clinical interpretation skills in order to employ the appropriate action in response to patient conditions
To autonomously manage own caseload, demonstrating time management skills and utilising problem-solving techniques and clinical interpretation skills in practice
Provide an expert nurse-led highly specialist urodynamic service for urological and gynaecological patients
Provide a highly specialised video-urodynamic service for urological / gynaecological patients in conjunction with urology consultants
To provide a highly specialised service in the assessment, management and follow-up of patients with prostate cancer, giving potentially life changing bad news following a diagnosis of prostate cancer
Attend regular Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, providing and receiving communication to and from the urology/oncology team regarding the onward pathway for the cancer patient; negotiating treatment recommendations to the team and undertaking these in a timely fashion.
