Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and organised Pharmacy Administrator to join our pharmacy team and support the delivery of high-quality pharmacy services.

The role requires strong communication, organisational, and multitasking skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team.

We have two roles available: one based at Glenfield Hospital and one at Leicester General Hospital, with a requirement to work across all TrustMed pharmacy sites in line with service needs.

Main duties of the job

The role involves providing excellent customer service to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, both face-to-face and via telephone or electronic communication. You will assist with the handling of prescriptions, support the dispensing team, and carry out a range of administrative, retail, and stock management duties to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the pharmacy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To effectively handle prescriptions and associated interactions with patients, ensuring a positive and professional user experience, by:

  • Communicating with patients, representatives, and hospital staff primarily by telephone and electronically, but also face to face, to arrange prescription collections or deliveries.
  • Receiving prescriptions from patients, their representatives, and hospital staff, and gathering the necessary information to enable the dispensing team to safely prepare medicines.
  • Liaising with members of the pharmacy team, customers, and patients to resolve queries and maintain high standards of service.
  • Demonstrating a caring, professional, and compassionate approach towards patients, customers, relatives, and carers.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the pharmacy team with day-to-day operational tasks, including stock management and organising deliveries.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming pharmacy environment, including waiting areas and patient information displays.
  • Assisting with general administrative and office tasks, including filing, data entry, spreadsheet maintenance, and audit documentation.
  • Supporting audits, data collection, quality improvement activities, and the training of new team members.
