This is a fantastic opportunity to work at Croydon University Hospital as a General Medicine Registrar attached to the Gastroenterology firm. Applications are invited to apply for a 13 month fixed term contract within our well established teams in Medicine.

This post will run parallel to our current SPR grade role, and will offer identical opportunities to take part in consultant supervised training relating to both the general medical and gastroenterology curriculum. It would ideally suit a candidate looking to progress into the speciality at SPR level who wishes to gain more experience in it.
The postholder will partake GIM on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
- Work closely with registrar grade colleagues to support the General Internal Medicine & gastroenterology service in providing high quality care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Carry out outpatient clinics with consultant supervision
- Participation in and leadership of ward based MDT, including review, assessment and treatment of acute medical inpatients, including onward speciality referral as appropriate.
- Provide supervision and support to FY1 doctors on the unit
- Take part in weekly educational activities (We encourage successful candidates to take part in quality improvement projects / audits / teaching sessions

Person specification
Experience
Essential
- Experience in General Medicine at registrar grade
- Experience in management of acute medical conditions at SPR level
- The knowledge and clinical skills base to be able to supervise the assessment and treatment of general medical patients at SPR level.
Desirable
- Previous experience in relevant medical specialty at senior SHO/SPR level.
Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC registration with licence to practice

Desirable
- Ability to organise and prioritise busy workloads effectively and cope under pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical staff and other health professionals
