
Job summary
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and experienced Locally Employed Doctor (ST3 level) to join our Emergency Medicine Department at Musgrove Park Hospital.
This nontraining but fully supported role offers excellent exposure to Emergency Medicine, opportunities for skills development, and a selfrostering system designed to support work--life balance.
You will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing highquality care to patients attending our busy Emergency Department.
Main duties of the job
Assess, investigate, diagnose and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Supervise and support junior doctors (F1, F2, GPVTS).
Ensure safe staffing standards and breaks when acting as shift leader.
Participate in departmental audits and Quality Improvement projects.
Engage in simulation training and departmental teaching.
Participate in clinical governance, patient safety and riskmanagement activities.
Rotate briefly (supernumerary) through Acute Medicine, SDEC, Fracture Clinic and Ophthalmology during induction.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years postqualification, including 2 years in Emergency Medicine.
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
- Experience at ST2+ level in a relevant specialty.
- ALS/ACLS (or booked within 3 months).
- Strong communication, organisational and teamworking skills.
- Ability to work shifts safely and effectively.
Desirable
- ATLS/ETC, APLS/PALS/EPLS.
- MRCEM or progress toward FRCEM exams.
- Additional degree or equivalent.
- Experience in Acute Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthetics, Paediatrics or Critical Care.
