Job overview
Applications are invited for Trust Doctor posts in Critical Care Medicine at The Royal London Hospital (RLH), part of Barts Health NHS Trust, for trainees at ST4+ level or equivalent.
RLH is home to one of the busiest and most dynamic critical care units in London: a 44-bed general ICU/HDU on the 4th floor, alongside a further 12-bed post-operative surgical HDU on the 3rd floor. The unit manages a broad case-mix, including tertiary referrals in Neurology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Renal and Stroke Medicine, high-risk surgical patients, and major trauma, supported by London's HEMS base and a busy Emergency Department.
Successful candidates will gain excellent clinical exposure across level 2 and 3 care, with structured opportunities for education, audit and research. Within this programme, fellows are warmly encouraged to enquire about dedicated sub-specialty fellow posts currently available, including Critical Care Follow-Up, End-of-Life Care, and Trauma Governance – each offering protected time to develop expertise and a project portfolio in these areas.
This is an outstanding opportunity for trainees seeking varied, high-acuity critical care experience within a supportive and academically active department.
