
Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated CT2 level Trust doctor to join our friendly and enthusiastic ENT team.
The post is intended to provide front of house ENT emergencies and elective and emergency inpatient care. The successful applicant needs to be at CT2 skill/experience level
Main duties of the job
a) The post holder will be based at DMH. The post holder will assist the foundation year 2 trainees in managing patients on the ward, assist senior members in the operating theatre, initially assess emergency cases and report to the on-call registrar for management and assist in the face to face casualty clinic.
b) The job will involve normal day shifts. Weekday activities shifts are 9am-5pm. It will also involve half day PDT per week.
c) For management purposes and use of resources the post holder will be accountable to the ENT Clinical Lead but on a day to day basis will be supervised by the nominated consultant.
d) The post holder will be responsible for the professional and educational supervision of junior staff and for reporting concerns regarding patients to the nominated consultant

Job responsibilities

f) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) the post holder is responsible for ensuring that he/she meets the national requirements for CPD, both internal and external.
g) The post holder will be expected to participate in Work based assessment, and an initial 6 month ARCP process
h) The post holder will actively and regularly participate in clinical audit and present findings at the department audit meeting.
i) The post holder will participate in clinical governance arrangements in line with national and local guidelines and in respect of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Trust in accordance with current best practice.
j) If the post holder is involved in the care of a patient who subsequently initiates a claim against the Trust he/she will be expected to provide, free of a charge, an opinion and statement of facts on the case.
k) The post holder will be expected to deputise in the absence of colleagues in cases of annual leave, study leave and sickness as far as is practicable and ensure continuous patient care. Where cover is required at short notice, either time off in lieu or a payment may be agreed with the Clinical Lead or Clinical Services Manager.
