We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious, self-motivated individual to join our logistics team.
- Shift Pattern: 30 hours per week. Core hours will be 0800-1400 Mon-Fri; Potential to include early shifts (06:30), late afternoon shifts (18:00), weekends, and public holidays (car parks open 24/7) Flexibility to meet the needs of the service (i.e. when events on site)
The Transport assistant is to provide a safe, efficient, and customer-focused car park service for all carpark users at the site. The post holder will also be responsible for the daily oversight, maintenance, and availability pay and display machines and the Trust’s fleet of pool cars and leased vehicles —including cleaning, basic checks, refuelling, defect reporting, annual service and MOT and ensuring vehicles are ready for authorised NHS staff use.
This is a hands-on, mobile role requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, basic vehicle maintenance knowledge, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and the position is not therefore eligible for sponsorship. Applications from candidates that require skilled worker sponsorship will NOT be shortlisted.
Main duties of the job
- Monitor car park capacity and direct vehicles to available spaces (including disabled, parent/child, blue light, and staff permit zones).
- Operate and troubleshoot pay-on-foot machines ,EV chargers - reporting faults, supporting patients to use them, Issue penalty charge notices (PCNs) for unauthorised parking or permit infringements in line with Trust enforcement policy.
- Assist patients/visitors with payment queries, lost tickets, or Blue Badge concessions in a polite, compassionate manner.
- Patrol car parks on foot to ensure safety, report dumped vehicles.
- Report lighting, signage, surfacing, and security camera faults to estates team.
Pool Car Fleet Oversight & Maintenance
- Daily visual inspections of all pool cars: tyres (pressure and tread), lights, fluid levels (oil, coolant, screen wash), windscreen wipers, and bodywork damage.
- Cleanliness: Ensure interiors are litter-free, vacuumed, and wiped down; exteriors washed as needed; remove any clinical waste or forgotten items.
- Defect management: Immediately identify and report mechanical faults, warning lights, MOT expiry, service due dates, or damage. Arrange recovery or garage bookings as directed.
- Documentation: Keep vehicle logbooks, insurance certificates, MOT certificates, and mileage logs up to date in each glovebox.
