Job overview

This job is currently only open to people who already work for the NHS in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly. We are committed to supporting our dedicated staff, so only current employees of the following organisations can apply:

  • Cornwall Foundation Trust
  • Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board

If you do not currently work for one of these NHS organisations, your application will not be considered at this time.

We are looking for an organised, confident and proactive Transport Administrator to join our Transport Services team — a team that keeps our Trust moving every day.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem‑solving and working with people at all levels. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our staff have the vehicles, travel and transport support they need to deliver high‑quality care across Cornwall.

Main duties of the job

Communication & Customer Service

  • Work closely with vehicle lease companies, repairers, travel providers and accommodation suppliers.
  • Provide clear, professional advice to staff via phone, email and face‑to‑face.
  • Handle sensitive information and overcome barriers to understanding.

Transport Coordination

  • Support the procurement, allocation and quotation processes for Trust vehicles.
  • Coordinate valuations and auction sales of fleet vehicles.
  • Carry out vehicle handovers at multiple sites — sometimes outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Manage travel and accommodation bookings to secure best value.

Administration & Finance

  • Raise purchase orders and validate invoices within delegated limits.
  • Prepare reports and documents for the Transport Manager and Transport Officer.
  • Ensure requests are accurate, compliant and audit‑ready.
  • Provide financial information when required.

Systems & IT

  • Maintain accurate transport records and databases.
  • Use a range of Trust systems including HealthRoster, finance systems, booking platforms, Excel, Outlook and more.
  • Handle complex individual and group bookings.
