The Transcription Team, based at Luton, are looking for fast, accurate typists to join their friendly team.

This post requires the post holder to provide an efficient and comprehensive transcription typist service, using the Bighand digital dictation system, to various departments within the Trust and their Clinical and Nursing teams.   The post requires the ability to work on your own initiative, but support is always available from the Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor.

The post will be part time or Full time and based in the Transcription Office at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.

3.    Validate each dictation to ensure the patient details are correct by cross referencing the profiling window with the dictation.

7.    To be aware of Departmental Health and Safety requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

To provide an excellent standard of typing to Clinicians and Nurses within various Medical Specialities.  This post requires the post holder to provide an efficient and comprehensive transcription typist service to various departments within the Trust and its Clinical and Nursing teams, ensuring that the work is prioritised according to the ever-changing demands of the service.  The post requires the ability to work on your own initiative, however support is always available from the Supervisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide an efficient transcription service.  This will be audio typing from digital dictation.  The job will require typing and checking of letters at speed from dictation and other tasks associated with the production and circulation of clinical correspondence.
  • To validate each dictation to ensure the patient details are correct by cross referencing the profiling window with the dictation.
  • To recognise inconsistencies and anomalies with dictations and escalate to the Transcription Supervisor.
  • To maintain folders in date and time order unless otherwise instructed.
  • Observing strict confidentiality in all matters concerning patients and visitors.
  • Demonstrating and explaining practices and procedures to new, less experienced staff.
  • To be aware of Departmental Health and Safety requirements.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager commensurate with grade
