Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a full time (37.5 hours per week) Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) on 12 month temporary contract, for the Central Cheshire Talking Therapies service.

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners assess and deliver interventions to people experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues. This training post will involve undertaking a 12 month course of study at Liverpool John Moores University, (Course starts March 2025) whilst working in clinical practice within our service, leading to qualification as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.

You will be expected to manage a small caseload while in training whilst supported to develop clinical skills and competences in supervised practice.

On successful completion of the course you will move to a permanent Band 5 post as a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.

Main duties of the job

You will be trained to use CBT-based low intensity interventions, including guided self-help, psycho-education and computerised CBT, to help people with depression and anxiety.

To join us, you will need to have evidence of study at level 5 or above and have experience of working or volunteering within a health or social care setting.  You will  be highly organised, have drive and initiative and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The recruitment process involves a joint selection process by Cheshire & Wirral Partnership Trust IAPT Services and Liverpool John Moores University.
