Two exciting trainee posts have arisen in our Tri-borough Under-5s Team: one on the IEYP Parent-Infant pathway (under 2s), and one on the Early Childhood pathway (3-5 yos). This is part of the NHSE funded Children and Young People Psychological Training Programme.

We are seeking candidates with a strong interest in the mental health and relational development of children aged 0-5. You will be enthusiastic about developing skills in assessment and intervention with infants, young children and their families, and able to apply learning from the training programme in a busy CAMHS service.

You will bring experience of working with the development and wellbeing of children aged 0-5 and their families, an understanding of safeguarding and multi-agency working, and the ability to communicate sensitively with young children & parents/ carers. We are particularly interested in candidates who can reflect on their own practice, work well in teams, manage the combined academic and clinical demands of the post, and contribute to inclusive, evidence-informed care.

Main duties of the job

This full-time training will begin in January 2027 with around 2.5 days a week for academic work (teaching and personal study), and 2.5 days based at the service . Trainees will be both an employee of the service and an enrolled student with King’s College London. Upon completion, qualified trainees will receive a KCL Postgraduate Diploma.

At your placement in our welcoming CAMHS under-5s team you will receive regular supervision, exposure to our multi-disciplinary team forums, and lots of opportunity for clinical work. You will benefit from working in a team dedicated specifically to provision of CAMHS care to under-5s.

This is a dual application process. In addition to applying for this position with us, you must also complete a UCL application for the Course Team to review. The Course Team will liaise with us on whether you meet the academic requirements for the course during the recruitment process. You will only be offered a UCL training place if you are successful in securing this post and you meet the university training requirements (such as academic background, relevant experience, visa approval). Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is an NHSE funded training post as part of the Child and Young People’s (CYP) Psychological Trainings which involves part time working as a Practitioner in NLFT Tri-borough under-5s team and part time studying with UCL/Anna Freud undertaking a programme of training in CAMHS Practitioner CYP-PT: Infant and Early Years Practitioner.

There are two training posts available, one on each of the following programmes:

• CYP-PT: Infant and Early Years Practitioner: Parent-Infant pathway (supporting work with the 0–2 age range)
• CYP-PT: Infant and Early Years Practitioner: Early Childhood pathway (supporting work with the 3–5 age range)

This intensive training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using the core principles of the CYP Psychological Training Programme and consistent with the evidence base in the area of Parent-infant relationship work.

The post-holder will work in the service, for at least 2.5 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme or undertaking self-study days for the remaining days, as required by the education provider.

The post holder will hold an appropriate training case load and complete the necessary assignments to meet the course requirements.
