This is a trainee CT radiographer position.
You will be working as part of a friendly team of Radiographers within CT, working alongside rotational staff at Russells Hall Hospital and the Guest Outpatient Centre.
Our service is due to expand with additional capability plan. The departments are currently equipped with four state-of-the-art scanners.
2x128 Somatom Definition edge Scanners, due for replacements this year, at our acute site.
1x128 X.Cite due for installation in April & a Somatom Pro.Pulse at the Guest Outpatient centre.
You will be expected to participate fully in the extended day service. This currently includes extended day & night shift patterns, weekends and bank holidays.
Applicants must hold the Diploma of the College of Radiographers or a Degree in Radiography and be HCPC Registered
Main duties of the job
Upon completion of competency and log book:
- To work predominantly in the CT department performing high quality diagnostic examinations in a diverse range of specialist procedures.
- To participate in any extended day, weekend, Night, and Bank Holiday service provided by CT
- Providing an emergency service outside of the departments normal working hours.
- To train Radiographers, Radiographer Aides and student radiographers in CT.
- To assist the Principal CT Radiographer as required with the day to day operational management of the CT Departments, being responsible for the smooth running of CT scanning lists.
- To work without supervision when required, to perform high quality diagnostic examinations in a diverse range of CT procedures whilst observing the current Ionising Radiation Regulations and Local Rules for CT.

- Post graduate experience in CT with a varied workload
Desirable
- Previous experience of participation in an emergency CT service, undertaking a wide range of examinations, unsupervised.
- Previous experience of Teaching/mentoring
- Previous experience of performing & supervising CT Colonography examinations.
- Evidence of working in a Supervisory role
- Participating in an emergency CT service in an acute NHS hospital
Knowledge and Training

- Evidence of I.V. cannulation training & Competency.
- Evidence of attendance of specialty / short courses in CT
- Evidence of life support training

- Intermediate Life Support (Short course)
