We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support our inpatients with temporary tobacco abstinence whilst in hospital and underpin quit attempts.
This exciting role will involve helping patients to reframe their approach to their smoking behaviours, manage their cravings with personalised support plans and tailor those treatment plans, which titrate nicotine replacement therapy, to support discharge planning and a longer-term goal of being smokefree.
Main duties of the job
The Tobacco Dependence Advisor for Inpatients will work across adult in-patient wards :
- undertaking tobacco dependence assessments,
- educating service users about options to manage their tobacco dependence
- and support quit attempts.
The Tobacco Dependence Advisor for Inpatients will be responsible for:
- creating personalised quit plans and assist service users to access the support they need for their quit attempt both during their inpatient stay and after discharge.
- collect data in accordance with the metrics required by the ICS and NHSE monitoring
- build rapport and act as a support mechanism for Ward Staff with regards to Stop Smoking Support for inpatients.
