Join the Inpatient Therapy Team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 3 Therapy Support Worker and play a key role in helping patients regain independence, improve function and achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Working alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Practitioners and fellow Therapy Support Workers, to deliver high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation and care to a diverse inpatient population.

Working under the supervision of registered therapists, you will support the delivery of therapy programmes, carry out delegated clinical and non-clinical tasks, monitor patient progress and contribute to safe, effective and compassionate care.

You will assist with mobility, transfers, exercise programmes and rehabilitation activities, while maintaining accurate records and promoting patient dignity, safety and wellbeing at all times.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated individual with excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and a genuine passion for helping people. You will be able to work as part of a team, use your initiative within agreed boundaries and adapt to the changing needs of patients and services. Experience of rehabilitation, person-centred care and working within healthcare settings is desirable.

Main duties of the job

As a Therapy Support Worker, you will work as part of the Inpatient Therapy Team to support patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals, maximising independence and improving functional ability. Working under the supervision of registered therapists, you will deliver delegated therapy interventions and rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual patient needs. You will support patients with mobility, transfers, exercise programmes and activities of daily living, monitoring their progress and reporting any changes in condition to the supervising therapist. You will contribute to patient assessments, maintain accurate clinical records and adapt interventions within agreed parameters to ensure safe and effective care. The role also includes the safe use and maintenance of rehabilitation equipment, supporting infection prevention and control, safeguarding patients, maintaining confidentiality and promoting dignity, privacy and wellbeing at all times. Working closely with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Practitioners and fellow Therapy Support Workers, you will contribute to a positive team environment, communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, and help deliver high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation services. You will also take responsibility for maintaining your own skills and development and support continuous improvement within the service.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of the role of the therapy support worker in rehabilitation / management of patients in speciality
  • Understanding of confidentiality
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety
  • Able to recognise when guidance and support is required

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of person-centred care
  • Recent and relevant experience within an appropriate NHS setting or equivalent
  • Experience of working within a multi-professional team

  • Experience of exercise/rehab roles

Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of NVQ level 3 in relevant field or equivalent
  • Functional skills level 2 Maths & English if not already qualified at GCSE or equivalent level in Maths & English
  • Ability to travel independently around Rotherham and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes (Adjustments can be considered in accordance with the equality act 2010)
