Are you ready to take on an exiting new challenge as part of a dynamic Therapy Services support team?

Consider joining us as a Therapy Assistant Practitioner and help us to deliver a high quality service to our patients.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists as part of a dedicated support team and be able to take an active role in pre-and post-operative care of patients.

The successful candidates will receive comprehensive training to enable them to deliver educational sessions, assess and progress patients post-op mobility and functional independence, set goals and prescribe necessary equipment in order to facilitate safe discharge following their joint replacement journey.

You will need to be an excellent communicator, be motivated and adaptable and have experience of dealing with patients.

Alongside your clinical caseload you will expected to take on non-clinical duties as required.

Main duties of the job

Following all appropriate training, you will be responsible for managing your  own caseload of joint replacement patients. You will have an input into pre-operative and post-operative assessments and prescription of equipment in addition to presenting education sessions. Following these assessments you will treat, progress and discharge this group of patients and make referrals to local and national services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will work with the in-patient team of qualified and Technical staff to provide excellent treatment to a range of orthopaedic patients including spinal and oncology services. You will contribute to ensuring a safe and timely discharge to our patients by evaluating and modifying treatment plans.

You will use therapeutic handling to enable patients to contribute to their own recovery and will display a holistic approach to all individuals.

In addition to clinical duties, you will be expected to feedback to senior members of the team and the wider MDT.

Ability to work unsupervised as well as in a team is essential as you will be responsible for delegating to Therapy Technicians and Assistants.
