This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Main Theatre department at Royal Preston Hospital for Neurosurgery Theatres or Emergency Theatres. You will need to be able to be flexible with your hours as these theatres require working over 7 days a week and on nights. No fixed days can be accommodated.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a scrub practitioner who has a passion for providing high quality patient focused surgical care who has a flexible attitude towards work and a desire for new challenges. As a trust we are committed to the development of future healthcare professionals and theatres is pivotal to these trainees. As a qualified practitioner you would be expected to contribute to their development and support.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As an integral member of the operating theatre team for Neuro and Emergency Theatres, you would be directly involved in the following specialities:
Neuro
Neuro Intervention
Vascular
Colorectal
Upper GI
Urology
Plastics
ENT & Max Fax
Please note that this post will include working long shifts (8-9, 7:45- 20:30, 8-7), working weekends and covering nights for emergency theatres.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Essential
- Awareness of changes within Nursing practice
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures

Qualifications & Education
Essential
- Appropriate NMC/HCPC Registration
- Evidence of continuing education or development for more experienced Band 5 nurses
- RN1, RN2 General Nursing Posts/ODP

- NMC recognised Mentorship qualification/Practice Assessor
- Diploma in Nursing
