An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and experienced  Scrub Nurse / Practitioners to undertake a position within the Operating Theatre Department at the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust where we are committed to providing high quality care to patients. We are seeking experienced individuals to join our existing team.  We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who have previous Urology or Ophthalmic scrub experience.

Main duties of the job

You will initially be allocated to a surgical speciality team within the theatre department with a view to rotating to other specialities to gain experience and increase your skills and knowledge.

The Countess of Chester Theatre Department consists of 2 areas. Main Theatre and Jubilee Day Surgery Theatre.

Main Theatres has 11 operating theatres + recovery and the Jubilee Day Case Theatres consists of 4 GA Theatres, 1 LA Theatre and 1 Minor Procedure Theatre which is separately situated within the Outpatient Department.   The surgical specialities covered are General, Urology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic (elective and trauma), ENT, Plastics, Dental, Ophthalmic and Vascular and a 24 hour emergency theatre service.

The Countess of Chester is a teaching hospital with links to Chester University, Edge Hill University and Stafford University bringing nursing, ODP and Band 4 Scrub trainees into the department.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £27.50 (standard) or £55.50 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £16 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
