We are pleased to announce, following a successful ARC bid for Online Adaptive Radiotherapy (oART), we are able to recruit 2 x Radiographers (0.5 WTE) secondments until 31 March 2028.
These exciting roles will be pivotal to an All-Wales collaborative project focused on developing and implementing the clinical use of online Adaptive Radiotherapy (oART) across Wales. Successful candidates will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support the ongoing development, evaluation, and integration of this innovative treatment approach into routine clinical practice. While image-guided radiotherapy has already been optimised within Velindre Cancer Service (VCS), the introduction of Varian Ethos technology enables real-time adaptation of an individual patient's treatment plan.

Main duties of the job
To have a central role in the VCS Radiotherapy Team, working collaboratively with a large multidisciplinary team to lead on and support others in the development, clinical integration and evaluation of advanced radiotherapy techniques, specifically, Online Adaptive Radiotherapy (OART) including IGRT (CT, MRI and CBCT) SGRT, contouring, and associated protocol optimisation across the radiotherapy service.
To play a key role as part of a large multidisciplinary team in assessing and putting in to practice where appropriate online adaptive radiotherapy training programme, validation of systems and processes of the OART hardware and software within the department .
To provide expertise and advise in support of the Radiotherapy multidisciplinary team. To organise and manage the OART workload and take responsibility for the associated training and supervision of the team. To develop staff to achieve their potential for self and the service.
To independently lead (and contribute to others) research related activity ensuring high-quality data management, analysis and dissemination through publication/presentation of research work.
To actively train and educate health professionals in a variety of settings e.g. formal lectures, seminars, small group training.
To work flexibly according to the demands of the service, including weekends and across more than one site.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- B.Sc. (Hons) in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of College of Radiographers DCR (T)
- Registration with Health Care Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD (continuing professional development) gained through short courses at Masters level or equivalent
- A thorough and detailed knowledge and understanding of principles and concepts underpinning the applications and techniques used in radiotherapy
- Knowledge and understanding of current oncology issues
- Full knowledge of radiation regulations
- Knowledge of research and development
Desirable
- Masters Level education or willingness to work towards
- Leadership or management studies/ qualification
- Understanding of NHS Wales
