An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Admission Avoidance Front Door Occupational Therapy Team. You will become part of a committed and developing team providing an integrated approach to admission avoidance at UHW.
As the Team Lead Occupational Therapist, you will lead the team in implementing service developments in line with CAV strategy, the Six Goals of Urgent and Emergency Care, and the Occupational Therapy Strategic Plan. You will demonstrate strong skills in collaborative multidisciplinary team (MDT) working and will support the development of an integrated service alongside physiotherapy colleagues to meet the needs of patients at the front door.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and management of the Occupational Therapy service within the busy front door. They will plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the Occupational Therapy service in this setting.
The successful candidate will provide professional leadership on Occupational Therapy-related matters, working closely with members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver services that support admission avoidance and early intervention within a pressured working environment. This will include working with patients presenting with multi-pathology and complex needs.
They will collaborate closely with key leaders and managers to identify areas for service development and improvement, and to implement transformational change. The post holder will also manage a clinical caseload, undertaking specialist Occupational Therapy duties predominantly within medicine.
In addition, they will be responsible for planning and delivering education and specialist training, and for the operational management of the team, providing expert advice within urgent and emergency care. The role requires working as an autonomous practitioner.
The post holder will participate in a rota covering seven days, including extended working hours.

- Evidence of highly developed physical skills relevant to the clinical area e.g. manual techniques and therapeutic handling

- Evidence of excellent communication skills at all levels including negotiation and influencing
- Evidence of managing and prioritising a caseload
- Evidence of digital confidence and competence using M0365
Desirable
- Evidence of Quality Improvement & research methodology
- Evidence of presentation skills
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of significant post registration clinical experience in a occupational therapy position at senior level the specialist area
- Evidence of providing clinical supervision
- Evidence of clinical leadership and assisting in planning and developing of an existing service
- Evidence of experience as working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Evidence of experience of teaching other disciplines
Desirable
- Evidence of provision of advice and support to other practitioners to develop skills and knowledge

Qualifications
Essential
- • Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in occupational therapy
- • HCPC Registration
- • Evidence of M level learning or relevant higher-level qualification and experience

- • Masters level qualification or equivalent

- Evidence of Specialist occupational therapy knowledge in Urgent and Emergency Care.
- Demonstration of knowledge in NHS systems
- Evidence of an awareness of Health and Safety/ clinical risk management in Urgent and Emergency care
