Main duties of the job

As a Systemic Family Therapist at Elysium Healthcare, you will deliver systemic family psychotherapy within CAMHS Eating Disorder services at Emerald Place. You will work part-time, 22.5 hours weekly, supporting young individuals aged 8-18 years on their recovery journey. Your role includes conducting systemic assessments for admitted young people and their families, contributing systemic insights to multidisciplinary risk management and care planning, and managing a complex caseload. You will receive regular clinical and professional supervision and will be supported to continue developing your clinical and leadership skills as part of your ongoing career development. You will join a proactive and enthusiastic Therapies Team, as well as having access to a strong network of CAMHS psychological therapists across Elysium Healthcare. You will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service users caseload, including assessing service users with complex needs, supporting families and care plans and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatment within CAMHS Eating Disorder services.

*All applications must have a formal Family Therapist qualification. As a Systemtic Family Therapist, you will be:

• Providing highly-skilled systemic interventions for the families of young people with severe, complex and persistent mental health problems, learning difficulties and/or developmental problems.
• Providing in-depth risk-assessments of young people who are at risk to themselves and to be able to formulate both short-term and long-term crisis planning.
• Providing evidence-based and formulation-driven systemic perspectives to multidisciplinary risk management, care planning and decision-making.
• Managing a complex caseload as the family therapist working within a multidisciplinary team, as well as facilitating groups where appropriate, such as carer support groups.
• Monitoring clinical progress through regular reviews of systemic treatment.
• Engaging and working with young people with a range of mental health needs and developmental difficulties, drawing upon your wealth of theoretical and practical knowledge.
• Supporting staff development through the provision of training, consultation, formulation meetings and reflective practice sessions.
• Contributing to service developments within the Therapies Team and wider service.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Completed a Qualifying course in Systemic Psychotherapy at Master’s or doctorate level, accredited by the AFT
• Registration with UKCP
• Experience working with adolescents and their families presenting with complex mental health needs, high-risk behaviours and neurodevelopmental conditions in a CAMHS setting.

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Elysium Healthcare have worked in partnership to provide a new purpose-built Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Surrey.

Emerald Place Clinic is a 12-bed general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 13 up to the age of 18. You will be part of a team who supports young people who have a primary diagnosis of mental illness including those with neurodevelopmental disorders, mild learning disability and autism and those with disordered eating.
