An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker to join our Community Paediatrics Service. Although based in Luton, you will work with children, young people and families across Bedfordshire and Luton in a range of settings, including clinics, schools, homes and community venues.
We work with neurodivergent children and young people and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), supporting families through early intervention, practical advice, specialist pathways and partnership working.
You will support the delivery of behaviour, sleep and toileting support strategies, contribute to our Neurodiversity Early Awareness pathway, facilitate parent and carer workshops, and work alongside families and professionals to help children and young people access support that meets their individual strengths and needs.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and compassionate, with a genuine commitment to supporting children and families. Training, support and development opportunities will be provided.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Job Purpose
An exciting prospect has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker to work within the Specialist Nursing Service at Redgrave Children’s and Young People’s Centre. The successful candidate will work in partnership with families and professionals, delivering both clinical care tasks and behaviour, sleep, continence support strategies to make a positive difference to individuals and families.
The post holder will also support the delivery of the Neurodiversity Early Awareness pathway, including assisting with the coordination of information, engagement with families and professionals, and supporting clinicians with pathway-related activities.
Part of the role will be facilitating workshops both on TEAMS and in person. Training, clinical support and induction will be offered to support this process. You will work with children, young people and families and delivering care in clinic, educational and other community settings as the need arises. The successful candidate needs to be able to communicate and organise effectively, prioritise tasks, be methodical in their thinking and continually exercise their initiative. Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To work directly with families identified as needing support. To liaise with the family and multidisciplinary team when delivering support and seek appropriate support and supervision.
- To take an active role in workshops with parents (online and in person) providing advice, support, and administrative support.
- To keep accurate and contemporaneous records consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures.
- To guide families to appropriate Universal support.
- To support the Neurodiversity Early Awareness pathway by assisting with administrative and clinical support activities, gathering and sharing information as directed, and supporting families and professionals throughout the process.
- To act as a chaperone for child protection medicals as required.
- To take part in service development projects as required.
- To deliver Qb testing on a regular basis. Training will be available.
- To take blood pressure and pulse readings, and complete growth monitoring for children and young people. Training will be available.
- To ensure clinical spaces are well equipped and ready to use.
- To ensure all equipment used in the clinic setting is safe, serviced, and appropriate for use.

Infection Control
- The trust staff are responsible for protecting themselves and others against infection risks.
- All staff regardless of whether clinical or not are expected to comply with current infection control policies and procedures and to report any problems about this to their managers.
- All staff undertaking patient care activities must attend infection control training and updates as required by the trust.
- All clinical staff or any staff working in clinical areas are expected to be bare below the elbow with no hand or wrist jewellery except for one plain band (no stones or engraving)
Health and Safety
- Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed upon them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), to ensure the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for employees and visitors.
- To ensure that the trust’s Health and Safety Policies are understood and observed and that procedures are followed.
- To ensure the appropriate use of equipment and facilities and the environment is maintained in good order.
- To take the necessary precautions to safeguard the welfare and safety of themselves, patients, staff and visitors, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- To undertake appropriate Health and Safety training to support safe working practice including, where appropriate, its management.
