Ashmount
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker Band 2 to join Ashmount, within the Trust's Learning Disabilities Directorate. Ashmount is a residential service for up to seven individuals who have a learning disability, autism and challenging behaviour.
We provide intensive support and a wide range of activities from our care service, which has excellent facilities and is set in its own large, secluded grounds.
We are looking for team members who are focussed on promoting people’s rights, choices and independence and ensuring they live full and active lives.
The post holder will work positively and proactively with colleagues and will develop up-to-date knowledge of best practice and ranges of approaches within learning disability services and CQC requirements.
The post-holder would be involved working alongside the registered nurses and supporting people to access the community. The post will offer excellent opportunities for development.
Opportunities for joint working with other disciplines and agencies would be an integral part to the role.
The post-holder would need to hold a full driving license and be prepared to work flexibly in various locations across the Trust.
Excellent communication skills and confident use of IT would be key in this role.

Main duties of the job
- Participate in the ongoing monitoring of the health (mental and physical) and behaviour of people living at Ashmount, reporting and recording all observations, reporting to senior staff any changes in the person’s condition.
- To promote, support and deliver meaningful activities and promote engagement with activities at all times within the service and in the wider community.
- To communicate effectively and appropriately with people who use Ashmount’s service.
- Report any accident, incident, or untoward occurrence relating to the people living at Ashmount, visitors or staff.
- To attend to care needs identified within the care plan ensuring respect, privacy and dignity at all times.
- Help to maintain/develop relationships between individuals and their families/carers/others.
- Participate in meetings, assisting in the preparation of reports and contributing information/observations as required.
- Involve people in the development of their own care and support packages.
- To maintain the safety of people at all times, alerting senior staff to any identified risks whether perceived or actual.

All staff will have a sound awareness of Safeguarding issues and be clear about their respective roles and responsibilities to report, respond to and share information in relation to Safeguarding Adults, Safeguarding Children, Domestic Abuse and Public Protection.
All staff will have knowledge of and adhere to the Data Protection Act and will not disclosure to any person or organisation, any confidential information that comes into their possession in the course of their employment.
To adhere to the support workers code of conduct.
Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with line manager as part of the personal development planning process.
To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which he/she works.
The post holder will be required to have a valid uk Driving Licence and able and willing to drive the home vehicle which is up to 9 seats (B1 on driving licence). No penalty points on Licence.
To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover.
To contribute to a healthy and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and Trust policies and to contribute to the prevention and control of health care associated infection by adhering to Trust policies and guidelines.
