Main duties of the job
As our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Manage a caseload of psychosocial patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
- Work with receptions (new patients entering the prison), triaging and carrying out assessments
- Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and wellbeing
- Deliver SMART sessions, Narcotics Anonymous, Inside Out etc
- Providing a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments, including SMART Recovery
- Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cession, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
- Prepare patients for release and transfer

- Have experience within Substance misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment, and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role
- Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways
- Have experience of managing a caseload
- Have a flexible approach, and excellent communication skills
