Job overview

To undertake ultrasound examinations of patients under direct supervision of sonographers in the areas of both general and obstetric ultrasound.

To attend university as scheduled and complete all theory and practical assessments on time.

To liaise with ultrasound clinical lead for the purposes of scheduling training lists and progress checks.

This role requires HCPC Registration.

This post will include rotation to Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Hospitals and HSU CDC site.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake training in the specialist areas of Obstetric and General Ultrasound. This will involve studying towards a postgraduate qualification on a day or block release system at a university of the Departments choice.

Participation in the extended day rota will be required.

Knowledge

Essential

  • High level of knowledge of anatomy and pathology
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexibly based on thneeds of the service

Desirable

  • Understanding of local and national guidance relevant to US
  • Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effctively

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience working within radiology/modalities

Desirable

  • Recent NHS experience
  • Evidence of CPD

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC registered or equivalent
