An exciting opportunity has arisen for an apprentice nursing associate within our Children’s Community Nursing Team based in Westbourne Park, that covers Westminster Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea.

CLCH Academy have partnered with the University of Westminster to deliver this exciting two-year apprenticeship program. During the program you will gain a wide range of clinical skills in a variety of areas of nursing, while also undertaking a foundation degree.  Successful completion leads to Nursing Associate registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

The postholder will work within the Children’s Community Nursing Team, visiting children in the community with a wide range of complex medical conditions, to provide clinical care at home. The postholder will also work within a local Special Needs School supporting children with enteral feeding needs.

Main duties of the job

This is a developmental role in our children’s service.

The team provides a service to children and young people aged 0 – 18 years and works across the 3 London Boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Westminster.  The team works closely with colleagues in Primary Care, hospitals, social services and education.

The apprentice will work towards progression into the post of Nursing Associate through successful completion of the Nursing Associate training programme which includes the attainment of a Level 5 Foundation Degree equivalent qualification. They will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Nursing Associate within the children’s service and through completion of the Nursing Associate training programme which includes working in care settings and delivery of person-centred care.

The Nursing Associate training programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers. An Apprentice Nursing Associate will be based, as an employee, in the Children’s Community Nursing Team, but will experience working in alternative settings to gain a wide appreciation of many health and care contexts and be able to fulfil all the requirements of the programme.

Essential Criteria

• Have the right to work and study in England and be one of the following: A citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) or have the right to abode in the UK and have been resident in the EEA for at least the previous three years on the first day of your apprenticeship.  A non-EEA citizen with permission from the UK government to live in the UK, (not for educational purposes) and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of learning.
• Have the right to work and study in England and be one of the following:

• Mathematics - This includes: functional skills level 2, GCSE C and above (or 4 and above) or O level C or above
• English -  This includes: functional skills level 2, GCSE C and above (or 4 and above) or O level C or above
• Level 3 qualifications equivalent to 48 UCAS points (University dependant)
• Aged over 18 on first day of programme
• Ability to work 37.5 hours a week, including any off-the-job training undertaken
• Not currently undertaking any other apprenticeship or DfE FE/HE programme at the same time as starting the apprenticeship
• Have an eligible residency status (any visa must cover the full length of the program)
• Ability to travel across health and social care sites as required for the programme.
