Job overview

The procurement and supplies team are looking to expand their delivery service throughout the hospital and are therefore looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, team player to join the department.

This role entails driving the department vehicle and making deliveries through the hospital as required.

You will work closely with the stores and procurement teams and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of goods.

This includes loading and unloading of the department vehicle and delivering on foot to wards and departments.

You will need a full clean driving licence for this post.

Main duties of the job

To deliver goods across the Trust to ward level

To obtain signatures for orders to ensure traceability of goods.

To load/unload and drive the Trust vehicle across the site(s) as necessary

To assist with queries from Stakeholders over orders and deliveries

To liaise with Stores and Materials Management Teams to ensure service delivery across all lines

Operate any other stores handling equipment within agree operational procedures

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Liaison with customers regarding deliveries.

  • Deliver goods as required, in the process complying with health and safety at work regulations
  • To assist the team in providing an efficient, and customer focussed goods receipt despatch service to the Trust.
  • To ensure all orders delivered are signed for by the appropriate member of staff using the agreed documentation.
  • Collect items requiring return to suppliers or to go for auction.
  • Respond to any queries and enquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Load/unload vehicles in a safe manner. Operate any other stores handling equipment within agree operational procedures.
  • Attend compulsory Trust Training when required (Fire, Manual Handling)
  • Have a flexible attitude to working hours to meet the needs of the Trust.
  • Assist the team in ensuring that the Stores Vehicle and Fork Lift (where trained and qualified to do so) are used in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and or operational procedures and that they are operated in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • To access emails and Trust software systems as required.
  • To carry out any duties as may be required by the team, as may be reasonably expected within the scope of the post.
