Job summary
Sterile Services provide Sterile Surgical instrumentation and sets to the Trust. The department washes, disinfects, assembles, packages and sterilises the instrumentation. There is a vacancy for a Sterile Services Supervisor at the HSDU department at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. The shift is 2pm-10pm Monday to Friday with flexibility to cover other shifts when required. The department is busy and fast paced where you need to think quickly and prioritise workload and the team. This is a physically demanding role with manual handling duties. No two days are ever the same, if you enjoy a challenge this job is for you.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to organise the day to day running of the shift ensuring work flows through the department and the instruments are processed in a timely manner. You will either be working in the clean room or wash area, working along side the Sterile Services Assistants in those areas.

Job responsibilities
To supervise the day to day activities of the Sterile Services on the Alexandra site through effective leadership, management of staff and resources, working with all members of the sterile services team to deliver a high quality, cost effective service to the Acute and Community Trusts and any other customers (GP surgeries, Health centres, etc.). To ensure that this service is delivered in accordance with accepted best practice, Trust and department specific policies and procedures. To provide supervision, support and education to qualified and unqualified staff.
