Full time opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team working within the Eating Disorders Day Treatment Pathway including inpatient and community settings when required.  The postholder will be responsible for carrying out assessments, delivering a range of psychoeducational groups, supported eating and rehabilitation activities for this patient group.  The postholder will also take responsibility for overseeing physical health monitoring clinics, admission, discharge and risk assessment processes. The postholder will oversee daily co-ordination and delivery of the day treatment programme.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the delivery of the day treatment programme for eating disorder patients alongside a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), other service providers, carers and families. The post holder will be part of an MDT delivering a range of therapeutic psycho-education programmes, food-based rehabilitation activities; supported social eating and relapse prevention work to those attending the day service.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the physical health monitoring clinic for patients attending the service including co-ordinating and supervising other members of the MDT team as appropriate. The post holder will be responsible for the admission, discharge and risk assessment processes including MDT reviews and CPA meetings. Ensuring that data is gathered appropriately for outcome measure purposes will be a key factor of the role alongside the completion of relevant documentation and communication with other healthcare providers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality clinical service to patients attending the day programme which may include family and carers. 2.    Develop and deliver a therapeutic group work programme, taking the lead where appropriate. 3.    Overseeing the delivery of the day programme; co-ordinating and supervising other members of the MDT 4.    Booking patients into the day programme clinic and overseeing physical health monitoring 5.    Ensuring that data is gathered appropriately for outcome measure purposes 6.    To promote the awareness of physical and psychological effects of eating disorders to patients and their families / carers. 7.    To act as a role model to patients and support them in the dining room. 8.    Assess patient's individual care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care. 9.    Contribute to the formulation of care plans in co-operation with multi-disciplinary teams within the unit and under supervision of more senior team members.  10.    Contribute to admission, discharge and risk assessment processes 11.    Maintain an effective reporting system by observing and reporting verbally and in writing on patient conditions. 12.    Ensure the safe custody of all patients as determined by the clinical team. This includes the supervision of patients within the day programme area, grounds and the community, as required. 13.    Support student nurses on placement within the service. 14.    Participate in the development of the service to ensure clinical governance processes are actively implemented at team level. 15.    Assist in ensuring that the aims and objectives of the department are fulfilled and to identify factors which may inhibit these from being achieved. 16.    The post holder will be required to work within the NMC Code of Practice and professional guidelines.  17.    Maintain an up-to-date level of professional competence within the specific environment. 18.    Assist in the implementation of evidence-based nursing practice and participate in research and other projects as required. *Please see the attached JD/PS for further information.*
