Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a staff nurse to join our endocrine medical ward based at DMH. We are a 28 bedded ward and care for patients with a range of medical conditions. We work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure our patients receive the best care possible and their discharges are safe and effective.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to patients. They will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet the patients needs.

They will have excellent communication skills and work within the essence of the NMC Code of Conduct throughout their practice, this includes mentoring of students, junior staff and health care assistants.

The post holder will take charge of the ward in the absence of a clinical sister.

They will be supprted in their professional development and expected to attend appropriate training to increase their knowledge and skills.

The ward pharmacist provides a good training programme to develop and increase knowledge of diabetes and treatments.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
