NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

There are 2 fulltime permanent posts of 37 hours and 1 part time post of 32.6 available.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate theatre practitioner to join our dynamic operating theatres with the North Sector. You will play a crucial role in delivering high quality perioperative care across a wide range of surgical specialties, ensuring patient safety throughout their surgical journey. There will be an opportunity for professional development and post-registration development in the form of an anaesthetic course and scrub course to develop essential theatres skills. We will offer a supportive induction and mentoring programme when starting your post.

Once skilled main responsibilities would be assisting in the preparation of operating theatres and equipment. Provide skilled assistance during surgical procedures as an anaesthetic and scrub practitioner. Monitor and support the patient’s pre, intra and post operatively. Adhering to board policies, infection control and health and safety guidelines. Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists and wider MDT in relation to patient care.

This post supports 24/7 service delivery within the North Sector theatres and a flexible skill set is essential for this role. The expectation of the role would be to work flexible shifts if required this may include day shift, night shift, weekends and out of hours cover.
