Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Band 5 Staff Nurse within General Surgery, where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a fast-paced acute environment. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Royal Alexandra Hospital
  • Days, nights and weekend working on a rotational basis

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based care programmes for a defined patient group
  • Coordinate seamless patient care from admission through to discharge in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Take responsibility for the management of the ward or department in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse or Deputy
  • Support, supervise and provide guidance to junior staff, students and support workers
  • Contribute to effective resource management including staffing, supplies and medicines
  • Maintain accurate, timely and compliant patient documentation in line with NMC standards
  • Participate in audit, quality improvement activities and risk management processes

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
  • Relevant clinical experience within a healthcare or surgical setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to learning
  • Competent IT skills and ability to maintain accurate electronic records
