Job summary

We are seeking two passionate and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to join a to join our dynamic Adult Community Speech & Language Therapy team on a 3- month temporary contract. This is a full time position. This is an exciting opportunity to work with adults aged 16+ who present with acquired communication and swallowing disorders, primarily within neurology services, across a range of community and rehabilitation settings.

Main duties of the job

As part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and management for individuals with communication and dysphagia needs, supporting them to achieve meaningful outcomes and maximise their independence.

Job responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of adults with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Deliver specialist interventions and evaluate outcomes using appropriate measures.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Provide expert advice on communication and dysphagia management.
  • Contribute to referral triage and prioritisation processes.
  • Support service development, clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor junior colleagues, assistants, and students.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working with adults presenting with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience receiving and utilising clinical supervision.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Speech & Language Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport for daily travel across service locations.
  • Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience as a Speech & Language Therapist.
