The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint Specialty Doctors / Specialist Grade in Clinical Genetics to join the South West Clinical Genetics Service, based in Bristol.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly formed, ambitious regional service, delivering high-quality, equitable genomics care to a population of over 4.4 million people across the South West.

We welcome applications from doctors with significant experience in Clinical Genetics, including:
- Doctors who have completed specialist training, or
- Senior trainees in Clinical Genetics nearing completion
- Applicants must be on the GMC Register prior to taking up post.
- Appointment at Specialty Doctor or Specialist grade will depend on your experience in Clinical Genetics and working within the NHS (or similar healthcare systems).
- We actively support career development, including progression from Specialty Doctor to Specialist or Consultant level, and will provide structured support for those pursuing the Portfolio Pathway to Specialist Registration (CESR).
About the Service
The South West Clinical Genetics Service is a single, integrated regional service hosted by the Royal Devon, formed in 2026 by bringing together the previous Peninsula and Bristol services. It provides consistent, high-quality clinical genetics care across the South West.
With major hubs in Bristol and Exeter, and clinics delivered throughout the region, the service supports a population of over 4.4 million people. It is underpinned by outstanding laboratory, research and digital infrastructure, enabling modern, coordinated care delivery.
