This is a replacement post. It is expected that the appointee will have an established or a developing interest in Gastrointestinal Pathology and Haematopathology.
The department supports flexible working including working from home via digital pathology. Any consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Main duties of the job
- Histopathology reporting of Gastrointestinal specimens including an extensive range of GI resection and biopsy specimens.
- Histopathology reporting of Breast specimens
- To participate in EQA schemes and proficiency testing relevant to your areas of practice.
- Participation in Multi-disciplinary Team Meetings for GI and Breast sub-specialties.
- To take part in continuing professional development and to join the RCPath CPD scheme.
- To audit aspects of your work and to produce or contribute to at least one audit per year relevant to your areas of work.
- To develop and maintain a portfolio of evidence to support GMC revalidation.
- To undergo an annual appraisal carried out in accordance with the Trust policy.

- Experience of teaching medical students and AHP’s
- Experience of supervising trainees.

- Evidence of management training and evidence of learning from it
