An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiologist to join the Radiology team at BHRUT

This is primarily a general cross-sectional imaging post, with some sessions in general and/or subspecialty ultrasound. The successful candidate will participate in dedicated acute CT reporting sessions during core working hours and will also contribute to a rota for weekday and weekend twilight shifts, as part of the Trust’s plan to provide an in-house reporting service over extended hours.

The post holder will work as an integral member of the existing Radiology team, working closely with specialist Radiologists and benefiting from opportunities to develop a subspecialty interest in areas including neuroradiology, head and neck, cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal, urology and gynaecology, nuclear medicine, and musculoskeletal imaging.

The department has a strong commitment to multidisciplinary working and education. There are weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, which also provide valuable educational opportunities for trainees and allied health professionals. The post holder might be expected to contribute to relevant specialist cancer MDTs as well as smaller non-cancer MDTs, with appropriate support from specialist colleagues.

The successful candidate will be based within the Radiology team across Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital, with rotation to the Community Diagnostic Centre at Barking as required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to:

• Share an office space, secretarial support with another colleague with access to a PACS reporting station.
• Report cross-sectional images for general radiology performed on the MRI and CT scanners at the CDC centres, King George’s and Queen’s Hospital.
• Contribute to the general duty roster and hot reporting sessions.
• Participate regularly in the mandatory department meetings.
• Share an on-call commitment equally with the general radiology consultants.
• Maintain confidentiality about sensitive data as per Trust’s information governance guidelines.
• Make use of physical skills in carrying out roles and responsibilities wherever appropriate.
• Make judicious use of the resources and systems made available by the Trust.
• Participate in the development and implementation of policy and/ or management of radiology services.
• Attend and participate in departmental governance meetings including investigations of incidents and audits where necessary.
• Attend and participate in operational and clinical meetings where these are deemed essential to the running of the department and/or service.
• Acquire and maintain the required level of evidence-based practice within your area of special interest.
• Comply with all the trust and departmental policies in relation to job planning, appraisal and leave.
• Deputize for an absent consultant or associate specialist colleague on occasions where this is necessary to complete core services in a timely manner.
