The Royal Free London ENT department is undergoing some exciting changes with a bright future ahead. There has been a £895k investment into this department which is quickly expanding to occupy the majority of North Central London. The department is being modernised with diversification of its workforce and skill mix to meet the needs of the population in a 21st century world.
The post holder (s) will be responsible solely for out-patient care of patients at all 4 sites. These include the newly acquired North Middlesex University Hospital as well as Barnet General, Chase Farm and the Royal Free Hospitals.
Main duties of the job
SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN ENT
Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint an additional 2 ENT Specialty Doctors (10 PA) to join its current team at RFL. This is part of its exciting new development and expansion.
The appointee will join the Trust's successful Ear, Nose and Throat - Head & Neck directorate which currently comprises of a team of eight Consultant Surgeons (with a view to appoint an extra 2) , 1 Associate specialist, 1 Specialist Registrar, 12 Specialty doctors, 6 junior clinical fellows and 2 GPVTS trainees. There are also 3 ENT CNS, 1 Macmillan Head and Neck Cancer Nurse, 1 Rhinology and ENT Clinical Psychologist and a burgeoning Audiology department. Services are delivered across all Royal Free London sites including Barnet, Chase Farm and the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead as well as the North Middlesex.
The Trust continues to go through some exciting changes with having opened a purpose built, digitally advanced elective treatment centre at Chase Farm Hospital, new audiology facilities at the Royal Free Hospital and the reconfiguration of services to deliver excellent specialist care as well as excellent local services for our large patient population.
It is expected that the appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of inpatient and outpatient services. The ENT department hosts University College London Medical School students who also attend clinics.

- Four years full-time postgraduate training (or it’s equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a speciality training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term speciality trainee in a relevant speciality or shall have equivalent experience and competencies
Skills and aptitudes
Essential
- Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards
- ST1/CT1 competencies in a relevant speciality at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competencies in a relevant speciality by the start date of the post.
