Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine.
This is an excellent opportunity for doctors wanting to join our enthusiastic and dynamic team in a busy Emergency Department and London Major Trauma Centre.
We are looking for candidates at middle grade level who are at least 5 years post graduation with a minimum 18 months experience in Emergency Medicine. Those who do not quite fulfill all the criteria on the job matrix may be considered for a clinical fellow post.
Candidates must have experience working in the NHS or equivalent.
The post would be suitable for those who want to gain experience in a busy London Teaching hospital prior to entering higher training, those who wish to ‘CESR’ via the portfolio pathway.
There are plenty of opportunities for career progression and portfolio development. Those wishing to enter the portfolio pathway are fully supported including dedicated teaching, potential for secondments to other specialties such as ITU and for rotation to other local trusts.

Main duties of the job
- The Specialty doctors are required to perform clinical work in the Emergency Department, as the first doctor to see patients with the range of problems that present to a busy Emergency Department.
- The successful applicants will be expected to manage areas, support junior staff and contribute to the smooth running of the department, as required.
- They will be required to participate in audit and encouraged to take on clinical research or quality improvement projects depending on the interests of the successful applicant(s). There will be an opportunity to present the results in the Emergency Department, and assistance is given with the preparation and submission of work for publication.

We have consultants with diverse special interests including pre-hospital care, critical care, global health, paediatrics, simulation, ultrasound, research and education.
Successful candidates will have access to a study leave allowance and budget, be allocated educational supervisors and able to attend department teaching and governance. They would be allocated educational development time off the shop floor every week.
St Georges’ in located in Tooting, an up and coming area of South West London. It is on the Northern line with excellent access to central London. It has great green spaces, the iconic lido and trendy Tooting market.
