Job overview

Contribute to the provision of a high quality, responsive critical care service to Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust that assumes responsibility for the patients within the catchment area in co-operation with colleagues in anaesthetics and other clinical departments. This will involve caring for patients on the ITUs and

HDUs at Queen's Hospital and/or King George Hospital, reviewing patients and initiating critical care treatment in Accident & Emergency, theatre recovery and ward areas, and undertaking transfer of patients (both intra- and inter-hospital).

Main duties of the job

The Trust seeks to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Intensive Care. This is a two-year post and applicants will be expected to have suitable experience in Intensive Care.

It would suit an experienced ITU fellow who is interested in gaining further clinical experience before applying for portfolio pathway.

Person specification

Experience/ Knowledge

Essential

  • Must have completed at least 4 years fulltime postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least 2 of which will be in a specialty training programme in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, Acute or Emergency Medicine (or equivalent experience and competencies).

Desirable

  • 12 months in critical care training post.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent

Desirable

  • Fellowship of the Royal College Anaesthetists, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, (European)
