The Specialty Doctor for South Core Birmingham Community Mental Health Team will be committed to working with young people aged 0-18 with mental ill health and neurodevelopmental conditions as well as provide a central role within an MDT context in delivering psychiatric assessment and treatment for a caseload of patients and their families. The post holder will also contribute to providing psychiatric and medical risk management.
The South Core Team forms part of the overall Community Mental Health provision in the city of Birmingham and works closely with other specialty teams, providers and services to deliver a high quality service.
The clinical base is The Oaklands Centre in Selly Oak, Birmingham.
Applicants will need to hold full registration with the GMC and a licence to practice and completed at least four years postgraduate training, at least two of which will be within a psychiatry training programme or equivalent.
Provide direct psychiatric services through the clinical assessment, diagnosis and care plan, risk assessment and management plans, treatment formulation, prescribing and work with the team on implementing evidence based interventions.
Hold a caseload of patients (0-18 year olds) and review patients at a frequency according to their clinical need and risks.
Work alongside Consultants and the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of services for this area and, in particular, provide assessment and evaluation of cases where a psychiatric disorder is suspected.
Participate in formulating and implementing appropriate care plan around physical healthcare needs of service users in the CAMHS.
