  • Deliver treatment and care for patients in all areas of the ED.
  • Assist with the supervision of junior doctors in all areas of the ED, including implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Carry out administrative work related to patient care, such as referral letters, and provide accurate and timely information to patient's relatives/carers and GPs.
  • Deliver 1.5 PA SPA and 1 PA for their special interest per week.
  • Demonstrate an increasing ability to take decisions and carry responsibility without direct supervision as part of the special interest role.
  • Provide evidence of contributions to a wider role, for example meaningful participation in or contribution to management or leadership, service development and modernisation, teaching and training of others, committee work, representative work, innovation or audit.
  • Participate in teaching, including the Induction Programme, research and QI within the department as per PA allocation.
  • Attend departmental teaching and inter-departmental teaching as far as other duties permit, including monthly M&M and monthly Radiology teaching.
  • Take an active role in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.
  • Participate in the Directorate audit programme.
  • Undertake continuing educational activities as necessary to remain accredited by their Royal College.
  • Participate in a yearly appraisal process in accordance with DHSS&PS requirements and revalidation processes with the GMC.
