This post is offered on a 10 PA basis per week, though we are happy to consider applications from those wishing to work part time. Some remote/home working can also be accommodated to support flexible working arrangements.

There is no current on-call commitment, as out-of-hours reporting is fully covered by a tele-radiology service.

While the primary focus of this role is to support the Breast Imaging service, NHS Highland offers a wide range of specialist radiology services. We actively encourage and support the development of additional specialist interests in line with service needs and the applicant’s professional goals.

You will be part of a team of based in the Highland Breast Centre who provide a comprehensive service for the Screening and Symptomatic patients. In 2024/25, 14,700 women were invited to attend the Breast Screening Service and approximately 280 patients in NHS Highland and the Western Isles are diagnosed with Breast Cancer each year.

Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register with a Licence to Practise, working towards CESR.

Qualifications

Essential

  • FRCR

Desirable

  • Research or Educational qualification
  • Valid UK driving licence

Staff Management

Essential

  • The appointee must be committed to helping the Radiology Department provide high quality care to the people of the Highlands based on their commitment to clinical excellence.

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • 4 years’ full time postgraduate training at least 2 of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty, evidenced in CV and job history.

Desirable

  • Possession of a sub-speciality interest, or the desire to develop an interest complimentary to the department.

Teaching & Training

Essential

  • A willingness to partake in or otherwise support the training and supervision of radiology registrars.

GMC/Specialist Registration

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise

Research & Audit Experience

Essential

  • A willingness to support audit and quality improvement within the department.

Team Working & Interpersonal Skills

Essential

  • A team player who is comfortable in a multi-disciplinary setting, and is likely to function well with the current team within Radiology, and across other specialities.
