A Clinical Educator is responsible for supporting the education, training and professional development of healthcare staff to ensure safe, effective, evidence-based patient care. The role combines clinical expertise with teaching and leadership skills to develop staff competence, improve patient outcomes and support service improvement.
Main duties of the job
- Organise, develop and lead the delivery of clinical training programmes to meet the learning needs of the clinical workforce within the specialty.
- Supporting the implementation of the Nursing Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Strategy.
- Act as an expert clinical resource to colleagues by guiding practice developments, assessing competence and supporting implementation of policies.
- Demonstrate a problem solving approach to all aspects of the role
- Promote a lifelong learning culture providing a high level of professional leadership for the delivery of workforce development.
- Challenge practice and identify competency issues.
- Support the implementation and sustainability of clinical supervision.
- Ensure production of transparent data and reports from the practice development team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Working as a core member of the team you will have responsibility for the overall continuing workforce development of staff within the specialty. You will lead on the non-statutory and mandatory training needs within your speciality area. You will be responsible for the production and delivery of a training needs analysis plan in line with existing national guidance where relevant. You will be responsible for making regular assessments and recommendations based on these needs and guidelines.
- You will act as a clinical and professional role model to maintain and develop exceptional standards of clinical care. You will promote and foster a culture of education and clinical development within the workforce. You will uphold high standards of practice development and clinical supervision.
