Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the specialist registrar group for 6 months within Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Medicine which will be based at King’s College Hospital at Denmark Hill, London.
It is suitable for: 1. A doctor wishing to gain further subspecialist experience in diabetes and endocrinology. 2. A doctor with general internal medicine skills wishing to expand their skills in diabetes and endocrinology.
The post offers excellent opportunities to enhance CVs and gain specialist experience in diabetes and endocrinology, quality improvement, audit and research. The post holder will join the general medical oncall rota and diabetes & endocrinology weekend cover. Access to educational opportunities are similar to specialist registrars in the specialist rotations.
The post holder will be assigned an educational and clinical supervisor for support and career guidance. The successful applicant should hold MRCP or equivalent and have valid references. It is envisaged that the appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of aspects of these services depending upon their interests and experience.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Diabetes and Endocrinology
The post will be based at King’s College Hospital (Denmark hill). As an employee of the Trust the post holder will work in close co-operation and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in the diabetes and endocrinology departments in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.
The post is suitable for candidates looking to develop their skills in diabetes. The post holder will join the endocrinology and diabetes specialist registrar rotation at King’s. Additional contributions to general internal medicine could be arranged via bank. Timetables are attached.
The specialist rotation at King’s College Hospital is ranked highly in terms of trainee’s satisfaction within London and nationally according to the latest national trainees survey.
An induction programme to the Trust and the departments will be organised to familiarise the post holder to King’s and the various services and activities in diabetes and endocrinology.
Integral to these responsibilities are the following:
- The provision of a first-class clinical service
- A supportive role to the trainee doctors engaged in the specialties
- Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust’s procedures and operating policies
- Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust’s service plans
- Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Care Group or the Trust
