- Ensure the daily maintenance, calibration, and cleanliness of specialized laboratory machinery, induction casting units, porcelain furnaces, and digital manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical or software faults on CAD/CAM and 3D equipment, coordinating with external service engineers when required.
- Manage the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous laboratory waste, chemicals, and dental alloys in strict accordance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations and Trust policies.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe laboratory workspace, ensuring full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and Trust policies conducting routine risk assessments.
Main duties of the job
- Oversee the efficient booking-in, tracking, and logging of clinical prescriptions and cases using the laboratory’s digital database and tracking management system.
- Manage stock levels of essential laboratory materials and consumables, ensuring cost-effective procurement and minimal waste.
- Maintain comprehensive, traceable manufacturing records for all custom-made dental medical devices to satisfy statutory MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) and MDD (Medical Devices Directive) quality and auditing benchmarks.
- Ensure all custom-made appliances are quality checked and leave the laboratory with the required compliance for patient safety.
- Coordinate the timely dispatch of completed work to clinics and external labs, tracking turnaround targets to prevent disruptions to patient clinic appointments.
- Maintain mandatory annual registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) by independently fulfilling and documenting Highly Recommended and General CPD requirements.
