Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialist Child Psychotherapist Trainee to join our friendly, thriving and energetic service, based in Tunbridge Wells CYPMHS.   The post is fully funded by Health Education England. Funding will be provided for salary, analysis, training  (including intensive case supervision) and travel expenses.

The post is open to British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF) trainees in the beginning stages  of the Independent Psychoanalytic Child and adolescent Psychotherapy Association (IPCAPA) doctoral training.

Applicants must be ready to embark on intensive clinical work.

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient, effective, comprehensive and specialist care pathway for children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents, and families.

To contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents, and families.

To undertake a range of generic clinical work, urgent assessment work, parenting support and specialist cases.

To contribute to audit and research.

To actively engage in treatment and outcome monitoring, including the use of normed measures associated with CYP-IAPT.

To work in clinical practice, making use of supervision, within the overall CYPMHS framework and the Trust’s policies and procedures.

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience of working with children and young people across the age range on a professional basis.
  • Personal suitability (e.g. reflective, mature and responsible).
  • To maintain eligibility for registration as a Trainee member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists.

Training, Qualifications and Registration

Essential

  • To have MA status, and to have been accepted onto the full clinical training at doctoral level at IPCAPA.
