The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist within the CAMHS AHP team. We are seeking an enthusiastic clinician with a wide range of clinical experience and preferable experience in working with speech, language and communication difficulties in the context of mental health and/or neuro developmental difference. You would join our CAMHS SLTs who are embedded within the AHP team and provide input to all CAMHS locality and fucntional teams across NHS Lanarkshire.

Additionally, the purpose of the role will be as followed:

• As part of a multidisciplinary/agency team, the post holder will manage a defined caseload, using evidence based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
• To deliver comprehensive specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to clients with a variety of communication difficulties and/or eating/drinking/swallowing difficulties.
• This service will be delivered in a variety of settings.
• The post holder is expected to have relevant clinical skills, knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of diagnosis and aetiologies.
• Duties and location may vary depending on the client group/aspect and demands of the service/level of experience.

In this key role, you will:

• All clinical decision making will be based on the Care Aims philosophy utilising the Care Aims model which will ensure that risk, impact and clinical need are articulated and outcomes evaluated through continuous reflection.
• To use specialist clinical knowledge to provide comprehensive assessment and differential diagnosis, intervention and discharge as appropriate for specialist aspects of communication, language, speech, voice, fluency and dysphagia.
• To use specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgments/decision making for complex cases.
• To provide specialist advice to others e.g. parents, carers, other professionals, regarding the management of clients with communication, feeding and swallowing difficulties.

What You'll Bring:

• Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or equivalent
• Registered Speech and Language Therapist with valid HCPC Registration
• Post Graduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.

A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
