An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Neuro with Trauma Rotation:

This role will give you the opportunity to work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team across Neuro Trauma (Orthopaedics and Plastics, and Neurosurgical/Neurology wards), our Rapid Access to Acute Rehab (RAAR) service, Stroke Services and Community Neuro Team; rotating within these acute and community services to provide seamless integrated care in line with our WeCare values and behaviours.

You will be responsible for assessing and providing evidence-based intervention for patients in our different services including determining in co-production their optimal rehabilitation/discharge pathway/management plan in line with their functional goals.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for physiotherapy, excellent communication skills, plenty of initiative and enthusiasm, and with the ability to work both autonomously and as a part of the wider MDT.

We offer a supportive and engaging environment to develop and grow our therapists including through regular supervision, education and training.  You will have the opportunity to develop your own clinical and supervisory skills with supervising Band 5 physiotherapists, rehabilitation support workers, and/or students.  You will also have the opportunity to participate in quality improvement and audit projects.

Main duties of the job

To assist and contribute to organising, developing and delivering a high-quality physiotherapy service provided to a wide variety of in-patients. These patients will have Neurological, Trauma, Respiratory and/or Amputee impairments.

The post will include rotations through Neuro and Trauma wards, Rapid Access to Acute Rehab (RAAR), Stroke services, and the Tower Hamlets Community Neurological Team.

It is expected that this scheme will expand to include rotations into the hyperacute environment of adult intensive care, and musculoskeletal secondary care follow up services to enhance the trauma and neuro pathways.

Skills

Essential

  • • Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate appropriately.
  • • Ability to work within an MDT and participate/facilitate safe discharge planning for varied patient diagnosis.
  • • Problem solving skills
  • • Ability to deal with challenging situations
  • • An understanding of clinical governance
  • • Understanding of the opportunities and challenges of working within a culturally diverse environment
  • • Awareness of current issues affecting the profession and the NHS

Desirable

  • • Evidence of participation in audit/research
  • • Evidence of extra departmental duties/roles
  • • Conflict resolution skills

Experience

Essential

  • • Significant post graduate experience working as a physiotherapist within an acute hospital setting
  • • Completed junior rotations in core specialties of respiratory, neurology, musculoskeletal and elective orthopaedics
  • • Experience in Neurosciences/Stroke
  • • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • • Contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff and/or students or assistants

Desirable

  • • Member of a special interest group.
  • • NHS experience
  • • Band 6 level experience in Neurosciences/Stroke
  • • Band 6 level experience in Major Trauma
  • • Band 6 level experience in Critical Care

Qualifications

Essential

  • • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy with HCPC registration
  • • Evidence of continuing professional development and a CPD portfolio

Desirable

  • • Post graduate courses relevant to clinical field
