The Role
- To justify/authorise and perform Radiographic examinations, providing direct care and a high quality diagnostic imaging service for the management of patients referred from clinicians and other referrers in NHS Lanarkshire.
- Supervise Radiographers and SHCSW ensuring continuity of service delivery.
In this key role, you will:
Clinical:
- To care for the needs and welfare of every patient.
- Act independently in the assessment of referrals for x-ray examinations, taking full responsibility for the authorisation of general x-ray examinations in order to reduce unnecessary ionising radiation exposure of patients in accordance with IR(ME)R.
Managerial:
- Be able to exercise personal responsibility and make decisions in complex and unpredictable circumstances. (E.g. Imaging in ED and theatre during a multiple trauma situation.)
Educational:
- Participate in mandatory training and actively pursue Continuous Professional Development keeping an up to date personal record.
- Maintain knowledge of technological advances in methods of diagnostic imaging in order to promote a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
What You'll Bring:
- Registered Radiographer with valid HCPC Registration
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
